The government on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Novo Nordisk Education Foundation as part of a larger public-private partnership (PPP).
The memorandum of understanding was signed by Dr Naveen Bhat Y, Mission Director, National Health Mission on behalf of the Government of Karnataka and Vikrant Shrotriya, the managing trustee of the non-profit set up by Novo Nordisk India, a pharmaceutical giant.
One of the objectives outlined in the MoU is the establishment of Community Diabetes Centres at various district hospitals, community health centres, and primary health centres across Karnataka.
The diabetes centres would enable them to adopt a holistic approach towards diabetes care in consultation with the outpatient departments (OPD).
As part of the memorandum of understanding, Community Diabetes Centres (CDCs) will be developed in various district hospitals, sub-district hospitals, community health centres and primary health centres across the state.
“The pilot project will be launched in Bengaluru Urban, Dakshina Kannada and Yadgir districts.
