Ocean research vessel catches fire off Mangaluru
- An ocean research vessel, Sagar Sampada, with 46 members on board, caught fire about 40 nautical miles off. The Coast Guard rushed two ships and doused the fire and rescued all members, including 16 scientists and 30 crew
- Mangaluru-based Coast Guard ship, ICGS Vikram, later escorted the research vessel safely to New Mangalore Port for shore assistance.
