PRASAD scheme: DPR for Chamundi Hill ready

  • Infrastructure Development Corporation (Karnataka) Limited (iDeCK) has prepared a detailed project report (DPR) for the comprehensive development of Chamundi Hill, under the Union government’s Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spirituality Augmentation Drive (PRASAD).
  • The Union government has identified Chamundi Hill for development under PRASAD and earmarked Rs 100 crore. The DPR is prepared for works costing Rs 50 crore under phase-one. The authorities have planned to take up the works in four zones.
  • Under Zone 1, Chamundi Hill Area will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 5.54 crore. The works such as junction improvement and entrance arch for roads, entrance arches for steps, seating benches along the steps, rain shelter along the steps, drinking water kiosks, information signages at steps and roads, beautification of Nandi statue area and direction signages, are planned.
  • Under Zone 2, sound and light programme, highlighting the history of Chamundeshwari temple, temple illumination, plaza development, electric buggy, Mahishasura Statue beautification, kiosks, Wifi hotspots, will be developed at a cost of Rs 15.67 crore.
  • Under Zone 3, Interpretation Centre, Information Desk, Museum, Library, Souvenir store, Exhibition Area, Audio Visual Hall, First Aid Centre, Ticket Counter and Prasada Distribution Counter will be established. The works are planned at a cost of Rs 21.25 crore.
  • Under Zone 4, Devikere area will be developed. Access roads to Devikere, pavement around the tank, improvement of steps around the tank, colonnade with mantapa, musical fountain with the beautification of the water body, aerators for water purification, ambient lighting and installation of CCTV cameras and smart IT, will be done, at an estimated cost of Rs 7.50 crore.
