The Hindu Centre for Politics and Public Policy has been ranked 33rd in the ‘Top Think Tanks in China, India, Japan, and the Republic of Korea’ category by the 2018 Global go To Think Tank Index Report.

The report has been published by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program, The Lauder Institute, University of Pennsylvania.

Methodology

The ranking was based on several parameters including quality and reputation of research and analysis produced; academic performance and reputation; quality, number and reach of publications; impact of research on policymakers; a demonstrated commitment to producing independent research and analysis; level, diversity, and stability of funding; media reputation; and website and digital presence.

According to the report, the largest number of think tanks are in the United States (1,871), followed by India (509) and China (507). Japan and South Korea have 128 and 60, respectively.
